Interesting; it was a piercing gun in the original book but this updated to use the more modern piercing technique. Still no parents needed. When my daughters got their ears pierced, we went to a piercing studio (this is in a mall) and the studio required a parent or guardian plus a birth certificate, because they won't pierce kids under eight.
